Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking an IT VMware Systems Engineer to manage and optimize a large VMware estate in a hybrid Jersey City setting. The role focuses on VCF9 migration, automation, and proactive capacity planning with AI-driven insights.

You will work with global teams, adhere to security baselines, and provide Tier 2/3 support, including on-call rotations. Banking domain experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field.
• 5-7 years hands-on VMware experience (vSphere8+, NSX-T, vSAN).
• Migration experience to VMware Cloud Foundation9 or newer stacks.
• Strong automation: PowerCLI, vRA, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell/Python.
• Hands-on with Aria Operations suite for log analytics and insights.
• Storage experience with EMC/Isilon, Pure Storage, Dell/NetApp SAN, iSCSI.
• Deep networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, NSX-T.
• AI ops concepts: predictive monitoring, RCA, LLM-driven chat ops.
• Banking domain experience with change mgmt, security, governance.
• Excellent communication; capable of influencing stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support large VMware environments (400–500 servers).
• Lead migration to VCF9 with zero downtime and security baselines.
• Implement IaC (Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI) for provisioning and patching.
• Configure monitoring and dashboards in Aria Operations family.
• Support production changes and change governance processes.
• Coordinate with global IT teams for platform alignment.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support; on-call rotations as needed.
• Drive capacity planning and automated RCA with AI ops.
