Job summary

Upgrade Resources in Austin, TX is seeking a Virtual Designer to lay out and produce electrical shop drawings with Revit. You will build 3D models from field layouts and support BIM coordination across disciplines under senior VDC guidance.

You will collaborate closely with operations, general contractors, and MEP trades to keep systems coordinated and install-ready, in a hybrid role with office and home days, mentoring junior detailers and helping refine templates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years CAD drafting in commercial construction; electrical experience a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; CAD degree or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and ability to read blueprints.
• Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently and learn from Sr. VDC staff.
• Knowledge of NEC and electrical coordination is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build 3D models from field layouts using Revit and Navisworks.
• Perform BIM coordination, including clash detection and resolution.
• Upload models and coordinate through the GC-led BIM process to sign-off.
• Mentor and train Detailers in producing detailed shop drawings.
• Maintain Revit templates, details, and graphic standards.
• Produce bills of materials for procurement and labor tracking.
• Work with operations, GCs, and MEP teams to ensure install-ready coordination.
