Job summary

Grainger is seeking a User Experience Design Intern for a 10-week paid program in downtown Chicago. You will collaborate with a Lead UX Designer on delivering customer-facing and internal tools experiences, gaining hands-on exposure to modern stacks and AI-enabled workflows.

You will learn how design decisions impact customers and business outcomes while presenting work to technology leaders at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human-Centered Design, Design Methods, HCI, Visual Design, UX Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, or related field.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Proficiency with wireframing/prototyping tools; Figma preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist UX designers on design deliverables for customer-facing experiences and internal tools.
• Participate in stakeholder and user discussions to gather requirements and user needs.
• Observe user feedback sessions to identify opportunities to improve the experience.
• Translate insights into wireframes, prototypes, and design concepts.
• Explore AI-enabled workflows and modern design tools to move work faster while maintaining quality.
