Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities seeks a Term Limited Temporary Utility Service Specialist to assist customers in the Development Services Office, handling water, drainage, and wastewater service requests through all project phases.

The role emphasizes accurate invoicing, hydrant permit processing, site visits, and collaboration with engineers and other SPU teams, with a strong focus on service quality and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Two years or more direct customer contact experience in person, over the phone or via email.
• Experience working with billing or accounting systems and resolving complex customer issues.
• Data entry experience with updating customer information and records.

Responsibilities

• Manage the DSO’s customer e-mail inbox and respond to inquiries by phone and email; escalate when needed.
• Create and issue accurate customer invoices for water service sales.
• Access utility infrastructure information, including hydrant flow data, in SPU’s Utiliview GIS.
• Communicate regularly with the supervisor on service issues and document customer complaints and escalations.
• Support hydrant permit program by issuing invoices and permits, calculating water usage, and coordinating meter rentals/returns.
• Assist with project intake and documentation for new development within the project management system.
