Job summary

City of Renton is seeking a Transportation Program Coordinator 1 or 2 in the Transportation Planning Section. The role supports capital projects, grant administration, and budget planning, with a telework option up to 2 days remote.

The position requires collaboration with regional partners and city staff to advance transportation initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance. Salary ranges are published for Coord. 1 and Coord. 2, with a strong benefits package and retirements options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Planning, Civil Engineering or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities and technical analyses within the Transportation Planning section.
• Manage tasks or components of transportation planning studies, with a focus on multi‑modal system planning and integration.
• Provide strategic input and direction on transportation initiatives aligned with citywide goals.
• Oversee the Transportation Capital Improvement Program for the Transportation Systems Division.
• Prepare the annual Six‑Year Transportation Improvement Program, including comprehensive project descriptions, cost estimates, scheduling, and funding forecasts.
• Recommend capital allocations and monitor program revenues and expenditures across federal, state, local, and private funding sources.
• Assist with the development and administration of the division budget.
• Coordinate construction scheduling, financing, and short‑range planning with regional partners including WSDOT, METRO, King County, and adjacent cities.
• Facilitate interagency collaboration to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
• Lead grant program development, submission, and compliance activities.
