Job summary

Optimal in Livonia, MI is seeking a transmissions systems engineer focused on warranty deep dive and issue resolution for 10R Hybrid transmissions. You will own the product, drive cost, quality and warranty improvements, and partner with design, manufacturing, calibration, service and dealers.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, hands-on problem solving, root cause analysis, and strong communication with suppliers. Hybrid work, 4 days on site, and occasional travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Calibration and vehicle data collection knowledge.
• Caltools experience preferred; ATI, etc.
• Hands-on problem solver and strong root cause skills.
• Independent, self-starter when required.
• Good communicator and can foster relationships with suppliers.
• "Be curious" and "continued improvement" mindset.
• Emotor, Hybrid, FHEV/PHEV experience preferred.
• OEM design/release experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a product development engineer responsible for 10 speed RWD propulsion systems and their integration into vehicle spaces.
• Take ownership of the transmission system and component warranty, work hand in hand with component engineers.
• Work as a team to improve part quality and increase the customer experience.
• Lead root cause investigations and follow ups with assembly plants and service teams.
