Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a transmission line engineer to apply expertise in 69kV–765kV line design, structural analysis, and foundation design. You will model lines in PLS-CADD, assess ROW needs, and review vendor submittals, while collaborating with teams across disciplines.

The role supports a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days in the office and two remote days, with relocation assistance possible depending on location.

Qualifications

• Degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 1+ year of transmission line engineering experience or a Master's degree.
• Knowledge of basic transmission line engineering principles.
• Familiar with design techniques, tools, and models for technical plans and drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
