Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a transmission line engineer to apply knowledge of conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles. Responsibilities include design across 69kV–765kV ranges, structural analysis for various pole types, foundation design, and conductor studies.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
  • Related engineering, internship or co-op experience.
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • 1+ years of transmission line engineering experience or a Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and design techniques used for technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
  • Perform foundation designs for transmission lines.
  • Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
  • Develop cost estimates, schedules, and procurement specifications for transmission line materials and construction.
  • Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine ROWs, calculate conductor sags, and develop line drawings.
  • Review vendor submittals.
