Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a transmission line engineer in Greenville, SC to apply knowledge of conductors, structures, foundations, insulation and electrical principles to design lines from 69kV to 765kV and to perform associated analyses and drawings.

ABET-accredited engineering education and experience or internship in transmission line engineering are required, with proficiency in PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE and MS Office; hybrid schedule with three days in office weekly.

Qualifications

• Requires degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 1+ years of experience in transmission line engineering or a Master's degree.
• Knowledge of engineering principles applied to transmission lines.
• Familiarity with producing technical plans, drawings, and models.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of poles, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare procurement specifications.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model lines in PLS-CADD and determine ROW requirements, sag calculations, and plan/profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
