Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a transmission line engineer to apply expertise across 69kV–765kV design, including conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, and foundations. You will model lines, specify components, and develop plans and specifications.

The role offers a hybrid schedule (three days in office, two remote) and relocation support based on location. A ABET-accredited degree, PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE proficiency, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 1+ years of experience in transmission line engineering or a Master's degree.
• Knowledge of practical engineering principles for transmission lines.
• Familiarity with design tools and production of technical drawings/models.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare specifications for procurement of materials.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine ROW requirements, calculate sags, and develop plan/profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
