Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to design lines from 69kV to 765kV, perform structural and foundation analyses, and conduct conductor studies. You will model lines in PLS-CADD, assess right-of-way needs, and review vendor submittals.

Hybrid schedule requires in-office work 3 days/week; ABET-accredited degree and 3+ years of related experience are essential. Strong communication skills are a must.

Qualifications

• Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 3+ years of related experience in transmission line engineering.
• Knowledge of basic transmission line engineering principles.
• Design techniques, tools and principles for producing technical plans and drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare specifications for procurement.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop plan drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
