Job summary

SES Space & Defense is seeking a Systems Engineer – Requirements & Interfaces in Reston, VA. Hybrid work arrangement.

You will develop and manage system requirements, maintain traceability, and coordinate interfaces across space, ground, software, and cybersecurity teams to ensure alignment with the program baseline. Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in aerospace/defense systems engineering, experience with ICDs/IRDs, and strong technical writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of systems engineering in aerospace/defense or similar.
• Experience with lifecycle processes: requirements, verification, validation, interfaces.
• Experience with requirements management and traceability tools (CodeBeamer/DOORS/Jama).
• Experience developing or maintaining ICDs/IRDs and interface documentation.
• Strong writing and ability to communicate technical issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, decompose, allocate, and manage system/subsystem requirements.
• Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability in the program environment.
• Support VCRM development, verification methods, and artifacts.
• Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents and Interface Requirements Documents.
• Coordinate interface definitions across teams and with suppliers.
• Identify gaps and drive resolution with responsible teams.
• Support test plans, procedures, and verification artifacts.
• Assist in evidence for requirement compliance and verification closure.
