Job summary

Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking a Systems Administrator I to support Windows desktops, servers, and a virtualized environment in a health care research setting. You will serve as an escalation point for infrastructure issues from Helpdesk and maintain AD/VMware/Citrix environments.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and preferred VMware/Citrix/Microsoft Exchange familiarity. Hybrid work is available in the Boston area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory.
• 1–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Install and administer Windows servers in a virtualized environment using VMware and Citrix.
• Apply, test, and release software updates/patches; configure servers, storage, and PCs.
• Rack and install server equipment.
• Provide technical support by responding to inquiries about errors, problems, or questions about software, hardware, systems and infrastructure.
• Monitor environmental systems (AC, Power, etc.) and notify appropriate parties when issues arise.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verify backups and logs, and ensure scheduled jobs are completed.
• Maintain data integrity, backups, restores and disaster recovery.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance.
• Participate on project teams.
• Maintain documentation of relevant processes and policies.
• Work with vendors on support issues.
• Participate in evaluations under management direction.
• Escalation point for Helpdesk and Applications on support issues.
• Escalate tickets to Systems Administrator II or higher as needed.
• Attend local user groups and conferences.
• Any other duties as called upon by manager.
