Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to manage procedures in EPIC and coordinate OR and anesthesia scheduling for the main hospital and centers.

The role is remote, with on-site presence 1–2 times per month on the Chicago campus. The position requires a high school diploma, at least one year in a hospital setting, EPIC experience, and strong medical terminology and typing skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum one year experience in hospital clinical setting.
• Experience booking and scheduling in hospital/clinic setting; EPIC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule procedures into EPIC per block schedule to fit surgeons' and anesthesiologists' schedules.
• Coordinate scheduling for ASTC sites and Northwestern cases.
• Coordinate complex combined surgical cases across OR and other areas.
• Create case entries and schedule for community providers.
• Assist providers to schedule time-sensitive cases outside block when possible.
• Notify and resolve scheduling conflicts with physicians' offices and staff.
• Process reservation information for admitting personnel.
• Notify anesthesiologist of special requests for services.
• Send verification of surgical schedule to physicians’ offices.
• Audit daily schedules and report changes to managers.
• Participate in daily scheduling huddle to resolve issues and ensure staffing.
