UFG Insurance in Cedar Rapids, IA is hiring a Surety Underwriter Trainee. The program trains you to analyze financials, review contractor applications, and learn to underwrite surety business with mentor support.

You will participate in agency visits and learn to market UFG Surety products while aiming for profitable growth. A bachelor’s degree and 1+ year experience are preferred, with AFSB designation encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and surety experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s in business, economics, finance or accounting.
• 1+ years of professional work experience preferred.
• Certified, or working towards, AFSB designation, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete a comprehensive surety underwriting training program with mentoring and online learning.
• Underwrite submissions and analyze financial statements and credit status.
• Assist experienced underwriters and support agency visits and education efforts.
• Provide high quality customer service in all internal and external interactions.
