Job summary

UFG Insurance is seeking a Surety Underwriter in the Carolinas/Atlanta region to build profitable new and existing surety business. The role emphasizes analytical risk evaluation, agency visits, and maintaining strong broker relationships to drive growth and profitability.

Travel up to 25% is expected. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree (business, economics, finance or accounting) or equivalent combination with 3+ years in contract surety underwriting, and are pursuing AFSB certification,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination with surety experience.
• 3+ years of contract surety underwriting experience.
• Certified, or working towards, AFSB designation.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Participation in continuing education throughout career.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new submissions and existing accounts within authority.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents/brokers.
• Oversee a book of contract surety business in defined territory and meet goals.
• Upload/update file information and purge obsolete data per guidelines.
• Provide high quality customer service in all interactions.
• Provide training and guidance to associate underwriters and trainees.
