IFG Companies offers an Underwriter Trainee program designed to build foundational skills in commercial underwriting, sales and professional development. The program provides structured curriculum, real-world application, and exposure to wholesale brokers across the U.S.

It is suited for recent graduates and early career professionals with a commitment to growth in underwriting. The role is hybrid, with training across GL, Excess and Inland Marine, and a path toward a full production

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to insurance, risk management or economics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new tools.
• Preferred internship or work experience in insurance or related fields.
• demonstrated leadership, teamwork and positive attitude toward learning.

Responsibilities

• Complete a structured underwriting curriculum across GL, Excess and Inland Marine.
• Attend virtual and in-person training, complete assignments and gated assessments.
• Coordinate with mentors for on-the-job exposure in account management and risk assessment.
• Develop knowledge in underwriting principles, risk assessment, pricing and broker relationships.
• Support underwriters in creating solutions for small and middle-market clients.
• Participate in coaching and mentor check-ins to track progress toward full underwriting role.
