Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Substation Engineer / Technical Project Manager in Lexington, KY to lead utility substation projects from planning through closeout. You'll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedules, budgets, and client relationships, and provide technical leadership for substation design deliverables.

This permanent, hybrid role offers career growth within a collaborative culture, ample project backlog, and opportunities across 13kV-500kV environments nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
• 7 years of utility substation experience, including 3 years managing projects.
• Strong experience leading substation design and engineering deliverables.
• Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead greenfield and brownfield substation, switching station, and collector station projects from planning through closeout.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and overall financial performance.
• Serve as the primary client contact and coordinate internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership for substation design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction support.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, transmission, protection & controls, and SCADA teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Support proposals, contract negotiations, design reviews, and client presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
