Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Cary, NC is seeking a Substation Engineer to design high- and extra-high-voltage substations and associated transmission systems. You will join project teams of engineers, preparing procurement specifications and supporting construction coordination.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, and relocation support depending on location. The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering, knowledge of AI-enabled design tools, and

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering, or related coursework incl. coding and 3D design, plus AI experience.
• Understanding of electrical engineering applications and project design.
• Ability to visualize 3D parts and create/interpret drawings without heavy CAD.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• ABET-accredited program preferred; FE/EIT is a plus.
• Internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems.
• Collaborate on project teams with engineers; prepare procurement specifications.
• Travel to client/vendor offices and to site locations for reviews and coordination.
• Participate in AI/automation initiatives to improve workflows.
