Job summary

Franklin University in Columbus, OH is seeking a Student Financial Services Associate to provide financial aid and account counseling to students. The role is the initial contact for the Financial Aid and Business Offices and involves advising on eligibility, payment options, and refunds, with emphasis on student financial wellness.

The position follows a hybrid work schedule (Mon–Thu 9am–6pm, Fri 8am–5pm; one quarterly evening shift).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• At least one year of experience in student financial aid, student accounts, student affairs or related higher education fields.
• Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• A desire to help students and provide excellent customer service in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform outreach to students at financial or academic risk of losing financial aid eligibility or enrollment status and counsel them on options and resources.
• Review student accounts and advise on all aspects of the financial aid and student account process (billing, scholarships, FAFSA, and eligibility).
• Process financial aid professional judgement appeals such as Satisfactory Academic Progress, Special and Unusual Circumstances.
• Assist students with completing the federal FAFSA application and related documents.
• Counsel students about the Federal Direct Loan Program and assist with Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note.
• Review and process letters and notices related to aid and loans.
• Create and maintain financial aid policies and procedures for the area of responsibility.
• Participate in events to support recruitment and retention and educate students about financial aid.
• Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.
