Job summary

Markon, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support fire protection design reviews and commissioning at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Knolls site. This role requires onsite work in Niskayuna, NY with up to 20% remote time and may consider candidates with active clearance.

The ideal candidate will review sprinkler, alarm, and passive fire protection systems, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and document findings to ensure compliance with codes and internal requirements.

Qualifications

• Active DOE L clearance; Secret/Top Secret may be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or engineering with fire protection focus.
• 5+ years of relevant fire protection engineering experience (or 7+ years with a different engineering degree).
• Solid understanding of passive fire protection barriers, design, installation, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire protection design reviews for new buildings and renovations.
• Evaluate passive fire protection barriers and water-based suppression systems.
• Review fire alarm detection and notification systems and their interfaces.
• Inspect and commission fire protection and life safety systems.
• Document test results and track corrective actions through closure.
