Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a structural designer to join the design team. Work will involve creating structural layout drawings in 3-D models, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to the design of supports and foundations for power plant projects.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with some in-office and remote work. Essential experience includes 4+ years in structural design, proficiency with 3D plant layout tools, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 1+ years drafting coursework or equivalent.
Four or more years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
Proficiency with design software tools for 3D plant layout models.
Experience reviewing structural layout drawings including steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
Ability to interface with engineering and design teams in the power plant design process.

Responsibilities

Develop structural layout drawings in a 3-D model within a multi-disciplinary team.
Tackle design challenges for structural supports, foundations, and related issues.
Use 3D modeling tools to generate structural schematics.
Coordinate detailed design phases for an integrated structural design model.
Provide support to other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely design.
Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently and as part of a design team.
Possibly accompany senior designers and engineers on field walkdowns and data gathering.
Provide guidance and mentorship in drafting tools to less experienced drafters and designers.
