Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a drafting professional to develop structural layout drawings in a 3D plant model and to support multi-discipline design teams in Chicago, IL. The role involves creating detailed structural designs, coordinating with engineers, and delivering complete design packages for review.

The candidate will contribute to field walkdowns when needed and mentor less experienced drafters, while working in a hybrid office/remote schedule in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of detailed design in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings (steel frames, connections, concrete members, supports).
• Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary teams in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural layout drawings in a 3D model.
• Design structural supports, foundations, and troubleshoot issues.
• Produce schematics using 3D modeling tools.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for the integrated model.
• Mentor junior drafters and provide guidance.
• Support field walkdowns with senior designers.
