Job summary

Metabolon is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting functions and payroll processing. This role emphasizes financial accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll execution in a hybrid work environment.

The incumbent will work onsite in the RTP, NC office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with strong collaboration across finance and HR to ensure precise reporting and controls. A 3+ year accounting background and Sage Intacct experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience including general ledger and month-end close.
• Payroll processing experience and exposure to finance and payroll systems is preferred.
• Experience with an ERP system such as Sage Intacct is required.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, benefits, and accounts payable.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations for key general ledger accounts.
• Prepare accruals and variance analysis for month-end close.
• Coordinate with global payroll providers to ensure timely payroll processing.
• Generate payroll-related reports for audits, tax filings, and internal reviews.
• Review timecards and payroll changes in ADP against supporting documentation.
• Maintain internal controls and support audits with schedules and documentation.
• Assist with automation of AP and procurement processes and maintain key controls.
