Capital Technology Group in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Staff Accountant for a hybrid role to support the Controller and the accounting function. The position suits recent graduates and early-career professionals who are proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced setting.

You will handle day-to-day accounting tasks, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting while contributing to process improvements and SOP development in collaboration with a growing team at CTG.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or related field.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and learn new processes.
• Experience with accounting software or general ledger a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the Accounting inbox and review, process, and enter all Accounts Payable (AP) transactions.
• Prepare, review, and submit Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices to customers in accordance with contract and billing requirements.
• Create, update, and maintain Accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and effective accounting processes.
• Review subcontractor labor hours and supporting documentation; communicate with subcontractors and internal personnel to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Support the Controller with general accounting activities, financial reporting, and other accounting-related projects as needed.
• General office support projects as assigned.
