Job summary

UC San Diego Health's Department of Pediatrics seeks a Sponsored Research Administrator to manage financial analysis and complex fiscal operations across divisions, supporting pre- and post-award sponsored projects.

This hybrid role combines on-site campus work with remote tasks, coordinating with PIs, central offices, and sponsors (NIH, DOD, AHA, CIRM, foundations), while ensuring compliance and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Six years of related experience, or a Bachelor's degree with two years of related experience.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
• Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
• Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis and reporting.
• Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; customer service focus.
• Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in research administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive financial analysis and fiscal management for sponsored projects across divisions.
• Develop and revise internal reporting systems and tools for forecasting and planning.
• Work with multiple PI's and funding sources (federal, state, private grants, contracts, gifts, clinical trials).
• Coordinate with central offices (OCGA, OCTA, etc.) and sponsors.
• Establish new procedures to meet changing needs and create intricate reporting.
• Develop proposals, awards, and transactions for signature as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
