Job summary

Acrisure is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI (and related roles in Uniondale, NY, Austin, TX, and Atlanta, GA) on a hybrid schedule with onsite presence four days per week.

You will build and maintain APIs and integrations behind underwriting and policy administration, owning features end-to-end, collaborating with engineering leads and stakeholders, and delivering reliable software with evolving requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python or JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
• Experience building or maintaining APIs, workflows, integrations, or internal tooling.
• Ability to deliver assigned features with moderate independence.
• Comfortable with evolving requirements and asking clarifying questions.
• Experience with testing, debugging, automation, monitoring, and production support practices.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools; Claude Code experience strongly preferred.
• Interest in learning or applying insurance, underwriting, or policy administration domain knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain APIs, workflows, integrations, and tooling supporting underwriting and policy administration systems.
• Deliver features, enhancements, bug fixes, tests, and documentation from implementation through validation and operational support.
• Implement operational workflows by turning evolving requirements into practical, reliable technical solutions.
• Integrations with internal systems, external vendors, and policy administration platforms with focus on reliability and maintainability.
• Production support including debugging, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Contribute to internal tooling and developer workflows to increase delivery speed and quality.
• Use AI-assisted engineering workflows daily to improve development speed, quality, and maintainability.
• Learn domain concepts such as quoting, binding, endorsements, rating, forms, and policy lifecycle.
