Job summary

Eliassen Group in Rockville, MD, seeks a Mid-Level Software Engineer for a hybrid role (2 days onsite, 3 days remote). You will design, build, and maintain applications ingesting multiple data sources to surface insights through correlation and analysis.

You will participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and production support while guiding junior engineers and improving reliability and performance. Strong Java/Python/Node.js and Big Data experience required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java, Python, and/or Node.js with object-oriented development and RESTful API design.
• Experience with Big Data frameworks such as Spark, EMR, Presto/Trino, and Athena.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming processing.
• Understanding of data lake and warehouse patterns, file formats like Parquet/ORC/Avro, and SQL tuning.
• Exposure to workflow orchestration tools such as AWS Glue, Step Functions, or Airflow, with data quality focus.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL/Aurora and NoSQL like DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra.
• Experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, API Gateway), CloudWatch/CloudTrail, IAM, VPC networking; IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation.
• CI/CD pipelines, test automation, security best practices.
• Nice to have: QuickSight, React/Angular, GitLab CI/CD, Amazon Q.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain features that ingest multiple data sources and surface insights.
• Own moderately complex components end to end from design through delivery and support.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute technical input.
• Identify and resolve technical issues and dependencies, escalating risks as needed.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability and performance.
• Contribute to code reviews, feedback, and coding standards.
• Provide informal guidance to junior engineers and support onboarding.
