Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in a hybrid Rockville, MD role to design, develop, and maintain data-intensive apps. You will lead and mentor teams while shaping architecture for ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses on AWS.

Strong focus on performance, security, and collaboration with senior partners is required. The position emphasizes big data processing, AI-assisted development awareness, and ensuring reliability across the software life cycle.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java, Python, and/or Node.js with RESTful API design and microservices.
• Experience with Spark, EMR/Presto/Trino, and Athena for big data processing.
• Design and development of ETL/ELT pipelines and data lake/warehouse patterns.
• Experience with AWS services and IaC tools for modern cloud architectures.
• CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data-intensive apps ingesting multiple sources.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor team members, including AI tooling guidance.
• Participate in architecture discussions and shape technical strategy.
• Identify and resolve technical risks and cross-team dependencies early.
• Support production systems and optimize code and infrastructure.
• Apply CS fundamentals and big data technologies to business problems.
• Review AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, and quality.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align priorities and integrity.
