Job summary

Buildertrend seeks a Senior Web Developer in Omaha, NE, hybrid. You will own web initiatives from strategy to deployment, partnering with Marketing, Design, Analytics, and Product Engineering to enhance performance, security, and accessibility of Buildertrend’s public websites.

You will build WordPress themes and plugins, explore CMS options, and ensure high-traction sites stay fast and reliable. Required are 5+ years of web experience, strong WordPress/PHP/JavaScript skills, React familiarity,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, web development or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional web or software development experience, including hands-on production work.
• Deep experience building and maintaining WordPress applications with PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Experience developing custom WordPress themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks and reusable components.
• Experience with modern JavaScript development, including React.
• Experience evaluating or migrating CMS platforms and web architectures, including headless or decoupled approaches.
• Experience implementing automated testing with Playwright or comparable tool.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, webhooks and third-party integrations.
• Understanding of web performance, data privacy, security and accessibility standards (OWASP, GDPR/CPRA, WCAG).
• Ability to mentor other developers and navigate ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with marketing, design, Revenue Operations and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain functionality across Buildertrend’s public websites.
• Own complex web initiatives from discovery through deployment and measurement.
• Develop and maintain WordPress themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks and reusable components.
• Shape web architecture by evaluating CMS platforms and decoupled/ headless approaches.
• Keep high-traffic sites fast, secure, accessible, and protected from bot abuse.
• Monitor site health and manage incidents; build automated tests with Playwright.
• Lead code reviews and mentor other developers; use AI tools to accelerate problem solving.
