Whitley Penn seeks an Assistant Controller to lead Oil & Gas Upstream accounting initiatives in Dallas-area offices. You will collaborate with the Energy Practice leader to design structure, oversee staff, and ensure quality deliverables for client engagements.

Role emphasizes advanced technical skills, training of associates, and driving business development while maintaining exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Oil & Gas accounting, Upstream/E&P.
• Experience setting up accounting functions and implementation.
• Proficiency with OGsys and WolfePak software.
• BA or Master’s in accounting; APA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Oil & Gas Accounting group operations and staffing.
• Develop tools, systems, and processes for Upstream accounting.
• Ensure deliverables meet professional and firm standards.
• Train associates and participate in performance management.
• Manage client relationships and project budgets.
• Contribute to firm policy improvements and business development.
