Job summary

DeLeon & Stang seeks an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join the Tax Department and take ownership of client engagements while mentoring staff. The role emphasizes high-quality tax compliance, planning, and consulting services for a diverse client base.

The candidate should be technically strong, client-focused, and eager to take on increasing responsibility as the firm grows. Hybrid work is available from Frederick, MD or Leesburg, VA offices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent public accounting tax experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
• Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Experience mentoring or supervising staff preferred.
• Experience with tax research and planning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review a variety of tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041).
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, planning, and consulting services.
• Manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
• Review staff-prepared work and provide coaching and guidance.
• Assist managers and partners with tax research, planning opportunities, and special projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve client operations, tax positions, and service experience.
• Own engagement workflow, budgeting, realization, and client service expectations.
• Prepare invoices, assist with collections, and support profitability.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve tax matters.
