Job summary

DeLeon & Stang is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with 3+ years in public accounting to lead client engagements, mentor staff, and advance toward leadership. The role partners with managers and partners to deliver tax compliance, planning, and consulting to a diverse client base.

The position offers growth opportunities with a clear path to advancement and is based in Frederick MD or Leesburg VA with hybrid work flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent public accounting tax experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Mentor staff and provide coaching and guidance.
• Assist with tax research, planning opportunities, and projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041).
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, planning, and consulting services.
• Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Review staff-prepared work and provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
• Assist managers and partners with tax research, planning opportunities, and special projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve client operations, tax positions, and service experience.
• Take ownership of engagement workflow, budgeting, realization, and client service expectations.
