Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking an Engineer III/Senior Engineer to develop and maintain production standards for T/T and T/D substations at the DEC headquarters in Charlotte, NC. You’ll create drawings, CUs, and design guides to enhance consistency, safety, and constructability across projects.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering credentials, 4–6+ years of experience, and familiarity with substation design software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and standards (NERC, NEC/NESC).

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree may be substituted for BS.
• Minimum of 4 years engineering experience.
• Senior Engineer: BS + PE licensure or state registration; Master’s degree may substitute for BS.
• Experience with substation physical layout, grounding, conduit/cable trench, foundations, structures, or bus design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production standards for physical design of T/T and T/D substations.
• Apply procedures, codes, standards, and practices to develop substation design standards, drawings, and CUs.
• Work according to safety manual and legal requirements.
• Coordinate standard development across priorities and deadlines.
• Communicate standards updates to internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Provide engineering/technical expertise in Substation Physical design.
