Job summary
Duke Energy in North Carolina is seeking an Engineer III/Senior Engineer to develop and maintain production standards for T/T and T/D substations, applying industry codes and safety practices. You will coordinate standard development, provide engineering guidance to internal teams and contractors, and use AutoCAD/Inventor to produce templates, drawings, and design guides.
Onboarding enables remote and onsite work after ramp-up.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited BS in Engineering or MS in lieu of BS
- PE registration preferred or MS in engineering in lieu of BS
- 4+ years engineering experience for Engineer III; 6+ years for Senior Engineer
- Experience with substation design software and utility industry practices
- Familiarity with NEC/NESC and NERC FAC-008 standards
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production standards for substation design
- Coordinate standard development while balancing priorities and deadlines
- Provide engineering guidance to internal teams and contractors
- Create templates, drawings, CAD blocks, and design guides
- Improve consistency, safety, and efficiency of substation design
- Work from remote and onsite locations after onboarding
- Attend field and factory visits
