Job summary

Onward Search is seeking a P.E. Senior Substation Engineer to lead HV substation projects across the U.S. in a hybrid role. You will oversee design development, mentoring teams, and ensure safety and quality across transmission projects.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 15+ years of electrical power experience, and deep knowledge of 138 kV systems, protection, and control, with proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, and RISA 3D.

Qualifications

• P.E. license required; able to obtain additional state licensure if needed.
• Minimum of 15 years of electrical power engineering experience in high-voltage substation design.
• Expertise in high-voltage systems (138kV and above), protection and control.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and review of substation and transmission designs.
• Prepare detailed reports, plans, and specs ensuring standards compliance.
• Perform engineering calculations including ground grid design and transformer sizing.
• Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget across multidisciplinary teams.
• Serve as technical liaison with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure safety.
