Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking a Structural Engineer within the Planning and Facilities Management / Office of Engineering and Utilities. The position requires a Bachelor’s in structural or civil engineering with 5+ years of experience, plus credentials such as PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering
• 5+ years of progressive experience in engineering operations, design, or construction
• Knowledge of structural and building envelope systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Familiar with cost-benefit analysis and budgeting
• Experience with historic buildings and campus programs is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and support project development and reviews for compliance with GU Standards
• Identify and correct deficiencies to optimize building envelope and structural elements
• Train maintenance staff on best practices for structural and envelope design
• Develop preventive maintenance to support envelope performance and historic preservation
• Assess building inventory to develop capital plans
• Create and maintain design standards for building envelope, structural, and architectural divisions

Education

Bachelor's degree in structural/civil engineering

PE licensure preferred
