Job summary

SHINE Management is seeking an Accountant for a construction company. The role covers day-to-day transactional accounting within QuickBooks Online, including payroll, AP, and AR, with a hands-on approach from invoicing to payroll processing and collections.

This position requires 3+ years of transactional accounting, a business degree or equivalent experience, and proficiency in QBO; experience with multiple payroll platforms and strong Excel skills are preferred. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of transactional accounting experience including payroll, AP and AR.
• Business degree or equivalent experience in accounting/finance.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) required; experience with multiple payroll platforms preferred.
• Solid understanding of payroll tax requirements and GAAP fundamentals.
• Experience with job-costing or project-based accounting in construction/field services.
• Strong Excel skills with reconciliations and basic reporting.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines; clear communication.
• Familiarity with construction billing practices such as AIA-style progress billing and lien waivers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for office staff and field crews, including hourly and salaried staff.
• Maintain payroll records, taxes, deductions, and PTO accruals; year-end W-2s.
• Enter and code vendor invoices and subcontractor pay apps in QBO with correct job codes.
• Process vendor payments (checks, ACH, credit card) per terms and cash flow.
• Maintain AP records, collect W-9s, and track 1099s for vendors/subcontractors.
• Generate customer invoices and progress billings tied to milestones or contracts.
• Track AR and follow up on past-due invoices; apply payments and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts; support month-end close and reconciliations.
• Assist with ad hoc financial reporting for leadership and audits.
