Job summary

Guardian Life is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop key components of the Group Benefits Absence Platform. You will work on the ACE program across multiple workstreams, leading design discussions and mentoring teams.

Role requires 5+ years of software development, cloud-native architecture, and hands-on API/microservices work in an Agile environment. Hybrid work arrangement applies, with 3 in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with service-oriented and cloud native software architecture.
• Experience with Java Springboot, Aurora PostgresSQL, Redis, Hibernate, Microsoft Graph API.
• Experience with modern API/micro-service development, build tools, testing and CI/CD.
• Experience with secure programming practices, software delivery and cloud security principles.
• Experience with AI assisted product development using Github Copilot or Claude.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, EKS, SNS/SQS, SDK.
• Experience with Git.
• Logging & Monitoring tools like AppDynamics, ArgoCD, CloudWatch, Splunk, Zenoss.
• Test Driven Development (TDD) to achieve high code coverage.
• Familiarity with API architectures including microservice strategy.
• Proven ability to lead cross-team projects and deliver on time.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptable to fast-paced environments.
• Strong presentation and collaboration skills.
• Python, ReactJS & Apache Camel experience is a plus.
• FINEOS Group Insurance product knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex solutions in an Agile environment as part of a global team of engineers, designers, and product experts.
• Hands-on API or micro-services development.
• Lead technical design discussions across multiple tech disciplines.
• Build relationships across business units to influence strategic objectives.
• Mentor on-shore and off-shore teams and assist with complex issues.
• Coordinate deployments with non-prod environments and release management.
• Partner with SaaS providers to deliver program capabilities.
• Oversee SDLC governance and analytics for root-cause analysis.
• Create monitoring, alerts, and deployment cadence.
