Job summary

Guardian Life in Bethlehem, PA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Technical Analyst to join the Group Operations Technology team in a hybrid role blending business analysis with hands-on development across the full SDLC.

You will translate business needs into scalable solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to modernization efforts, cloud adoption, and AI-enabled development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development or systems analysis experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java, REST APIs, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL and NoSQL.
• Experience with MVC architecture and multi-tier application design.
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban).
• Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
• QA activities including unit and integration testing to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and user stories.
• Develop and maintain applications using Java, REST APIs, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, sprint planning, retrospectives).
• Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot APIs using tools such as Postman and SoapUI.
• Provide production support, including issue resolution and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to application modernization, cloud adoption, and AI-enabled development initiatives.
