Job summary

X-energy is seeking a senior engineer to perform safety analyses and probabilistic risk assessments (PRA) for nuclear projects. The role involves creating and reviewing PRA models, developing calculation documents, and applying PRA results to inform design and licensing.

Proficiency with PRA software and adherence to industry standards is required. The position requires advanced engineering credentials and substantial experience, with opportunities to interact with regulators and customers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (nuclear, chemical, mechanical, etc.) from an ABET-accredited university.
• Level IV: typically 10 years engineering experience; Level V: typically 15 years.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. may substitute for years of experience; prior X-energy experience may count in lieu of years.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety analyses including Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) per industry standards (ASME/ANS RA-S-1.4-2021).
• Develop and maintain PRA models and supporting calculation documents.
• Collaborate with engineering, project leadership, and safety teams to inform design and licensing decisions.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation; explain results to stakeholders.
• Interface with customers and regulators in nuclear safety reviews and working groups.
