Qualifications

• Experience managing complex pre-award sponsored research activities, including multi-institutional, center-level, and large federal proposals.
• Knowledge of federal, state, foundation, and industry-sponsored research regulations and cost principles.
• Experience supervising research administration staff in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience reviewing and approving complex proposal budgets, including cost sharing, subawards, and effort commitments.
• Ability to communicate regulatory and technical information clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical leader and operational head of the pre-award unit for the Gillings School of Global Public Health.
• Oversee proposal planning, budget development, sponsor compliance review, quality control, and submission processes.
• Lead process improvement initiatives and develop service standards and performance metrics.
• Manage team portfolio assignments, staffing coverage, and ensure adherence to university and sponsor requirements.
