Job summary

United Contractors in San Ramon, California, seeks a Labor Relations Manager to lead grievance handling, administer CBAs and PLAs, and support negotiations at the bargaining table.

You will interpret Master Labor Agreements, manage disputes, and advise members on wages, fringes, and working conditions. This is a hands-on, full-time role with travel within California and a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the construction industry.
• Minimum 3+ years in labor relations, with experience handling grievances and administering CBAs.
• Knowledge of California public works, prevailing wage rules, and dispute resolution; bargaining experience preferred.
• Experience in front of a Board of Adjustment or arbitrator; CRM experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and administer Master Labor Agreements, PLAs, side letters and MOUs; advise members on wages, fringes, dispatch, and working conditions.
• Investigate and handle grievances from initial report to arbitration, including multicraft and jurisdictional disputes.
• Collaborate across stakeholders while maintaining independence.
• Support Director at bargaining table by building proposals and materials; conduct research.
• Maintain regular contact with union business managers, field reps, and trust funds; resolve issues early.
• Monitor prevailing wage, certified payroll, apprenticeships; advise members on compliance.
• Prepare labor bulletins and memos; deliver trainings on contract changes.
• Step in for Director of Labor Relations when needed.
