Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mining Environmental Group.

This role focuses on tailings storage facilities, mine waste, and water management, with responsibilities spanning design, risk assessment, and dam safety evaluations. You will lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on field programs, oversee site investigations, mentor junior engineers, and build strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (or related).
• 10+ years of geotechnical experience, preferably in mining.
• Eligibility for Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States.
• Located in Phoenix, AZ, or willing to relocate.
• Experience with dam design, slope stability, seepage analysis, and site investigation.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics with lab/field testing.
• Proven ability to work in safety-focused environments and within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the design, construction, operation, and closure of tailings storage facilities.
• Perform risk assessments, dam safety evaluations, and risk-based decision-making.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external partners on field programs and engineering solutions.
• Conduct geotechnical analyses, including slope stability and seepage assessments.
• Oversee site investigations, laboratory testing, and earthworks activities.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and staff.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships throughout project lifecycles.
• Utilize industry-standard software and tools for analysis and design.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, including conferences and training.
