Job summary

The American Heart Association’s Eastern States Region seeks a Sr. Development Director for the Heart of Central Virginia campaign in the Richmond, VA market. This hybrid role reports to the VP of Development and is based in Glen Allen two days per week.

You will lead fundraising, coach staff, recruit leaders, and collaborate with corporate and community partners to advance revenue and health outcomes for Heart Ball. The position includes a base salary with an incentive up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or a combination of college plus experience.
• 5 years of experience in fundraising or sales management.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and supervise staff.
• Track record of exceeding fundraising goals.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate major donors and sponsors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals; hire, train, evaluate staff.
• Ensure revenue goals for the Richmond market are met/exceeded.
• Engage and mobilize leaders to serve on Heart Ball committees and chair the event.
• Lead sponsorships and relationships to achieve campaign goals.
• Oversee Heart Ball health and revenue efforts across functional areas.
• Develop and monitor Heart Ball budget within approved plan.
• Prepare plans and communications for revenue projections and priority meetings.
• Supervise event logistics including promotions, auctions, and entertainment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement market strategies.
