Job summary

General Motors seeks entry‑level Software Engineers to join data software engineering and cloud teams. You will help build and support scalable data platforms and cloud services used across business‑critical products and analytics.

You’ll work with engineers to design, implement, test, and deploy features, gaining hands‑on experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production workflows. Hybrid work with multiple U.S. offices is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent real‑world experience.
• 0–2 years of software‑engineering experience, including internships or projects.
• Foundational proficiency in Java, C++, Go, or Python.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, testing, version control, and code review.
• Familiarity with services, applications, or data‑processing systems.
• Exposure to Azure, GCP, or AWS through coursework or projects.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and deployment of data and cloud services.
• Apply operational‑excellence practices, including SLIs/SLAs, monitoring, and incident response.
• Collaborate with software, data, ML, and cloud engineers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Implement features from design through testing, deployment, and support with guidance.
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and design discussions.
• Write maintainable, well‑tested code to improve reliability and cost efficiency.
