Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Motorsports Data Engineering team, building data platforms for real-time and batch processing of telemetry, simulation, and trackside data.

You will own Kafka/Flink components, Databricks lakehouse implementations, and IaC deployments, collaborating across race engineering, software, and operations to ensure resilient data delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Python and/or Java.
• Experience with Kafka, Event Hubs, or Confluent.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience deploying containerized applications using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres, MongoDB and Redis.
• Experience writing maintainable, testable, and reusable code.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong background in software development lifecycle.
• Experience with networking and client-server communication (REST, web sockets, gRPC).

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines using Python, Java, and SQL.
• Update existing software or develop new solutions to address needs.
• Contribute to development with repeatable, systematic approaches.
• Identify and fix code quality and security issues.
