Job summary

The State of Connecticut's Office of Correction Ombuds seeks an Associate Correction Ombudsperson to assist the Correction Ombuds in administration, oversee staff and investigations, and develop findings related to Connecticut's correctional system. The role requires coordination with stakeholders and reporting on oversight outcomes.

Regular in-person work in Hartford is expected, with significant field work across facilities in Connecticut. A hybrid work option may be available per state policy.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of experience advocating for the rights of individuals under the care and supervision of the Department of Correction and/or Board of Pardons and Parole.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
• Substitutions allow master’s degree for one additional year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily operations of the Ombuds office.
• Oversee complaints, investigations and outreach with stakeholders.
• Lead investigations and develop findings, recommendations, and policy analyses.
• Represent the office in meetings, hearings, and public engagements.
