Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Office of the Correction Ombuds (OCO) is hiring an Associate Correction Ombudsperson to assist the Correction Ombuds and manage office operations in Hartford. The role requires extensive field work, travel across CT, and in-person oversight of facilities and contracts.

The position emphasizes supervision, investigations, policy review, and stakeholder engagement to uphold accountability, transparency, and fairness for incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of experience advocating for the rights of individuals under DOC care or similar settings.
• Two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
• Substitutions allowed: college training, advanced degree may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of the Office and supervise staff.
• Oversee complaints, investigations, and program monitoring.
• Lead complex investigations and review policies and procedures.
• Develop findings, recommendations, and policy analyses.
• Represent the Office at meetings and public forums.
• Travel to correctional facilities and community programs as required.
