The Assistant Ombudsman provides independent oversight of Maryland's Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and Department of Juvenile Services facilities. Qualifications

• Six years of administrative staff or professional work experience.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Experience in medical oversight, healthcare compliance, or clinical quality assurance.
• Background in nursing, medicine, public health, or healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight of facilities and operations.
• Report on facility conditions to relevant agencies.
• Maintain policy compliance and advise on issues affecting incarcerated individuals and detained youth.
• Advise on matters impacting families.
